Their story begins in a college auditorium in the coastal town of Fairfield, Connecticut. Chelsea and Nick settle into their seats as a speaker gets on stage to welcome the Fairfield University class of 2010 to their college careers. He starts the orientation with an interesting exercise, “Look to your left,” he announces, “and to your right,” he continues, “your future husband or wife may be in this room.” The college freshmen, including Chelsea and Nick, shrug off the exercise and spend the next four years passing each other between classes, mingling at parties, and brushing shoulders at The Grape. It’s not until years later that these words would come to fruition.

At a mutual friend’s birthday party, Chelsea and Nick catch each other’s eyes across the room. They connect about life post Fairfield and realize how much they have in common. Over the next few years, they continue to get to know each other against the backdrop of New York City and their relationship grows. In the spring of 2019, Nick gets down on one knee in the sand of Long Beach Island and Chelsea and Nick find their future husband and wife right in front of them.
